Chapter Five

A SecUnit, accompanied by academics Ratthi and Gurathin, discovers a dead body aboard a damaged transport vessel in the station's embarkation hall. Station Security and Port Authority teams arrive to investigate, and a Special Investigator named Aylen questions the SecUnit about its involvement, revealing surveillance footage that shows the killer used advanced jamming technology to hide their entry and exit from the transport.

The SecUnit attempts to open a damaged transport's lock and successfully gains entry with Ratthi and Gurathin. Upon investigation, they find dried biological matter and a blue bag in the main lounge, indicating someone has died there. The SecUnit confirms the vessel is unoccupied and calls Station Security, who arrive seven minutes later. Indah and her team, along with Special Investigator Aylen, question the SecUnit about how it identified the dead person as Lutran and knew to check this specific transport. The SecUnit explains it was systematically checking all transports and that the transport itself identified Lutran when asked. Aylen then presents surveillance footage showing Lutran entering the transport, but crucially, no one else ever enters or exits—suggesting the killer used an advanced jamming device to hide their movements from the cameras. A second video shows a standard delivery cart arriving to collect the body. The SecUnit theorizes the killer intended to return and clean the transport but ran out of time. Aylen reveals the transport's contractor cannot be located and plans to investigate an outsystem ship at the private dock. Indah orders the SecUnit to accompany Aylen on this investigation.
