Violet and Xaden have an intimate encounter in the throne room of Tyrrendor after Violet's confrontation with Cat. Following a heated physical altercation with Cat Warleigh, Violet is consumed by anger, jealousy, and insecurity. Xaden finds her and attempts to comfort her through intimate physical connection on the throne room chair. During their encounter, Xaden deliberately restrains himself from full reciprocation to prove to Violet that she is the center of his world, not merely a convenient outlet. After helping Violet dress, Xaden addresses Cat's claims directly: he was betrothed to Cat for roughly nine months when they were incompatible, and he has never loved anyone but Violet.
