Chapter 19

Chris Andrews, revealed to be possessed by an Infiltrator parasite named Maggie My (Frank's wife), attempts to detonate a Celestial Grenade in town. Katia petrifies him with magical bolts, but Donut intervenes by opening a hole that drops both Chris and Maggie into the catacombs below, saving Carl from having to kill his friend. The group must now find a way to extract the parasite before the floor ends.

Carl encounters Chris, a level 35 Igneous Warrior who escaped the water quadrant via a missile launch tube after the Akula submarine was destroyed. Chris's strange behavior—inability to use chat, emotional detachment, talk of suicide—raises immediate alarms. When Juice Box touches Chris and calls him "sexy," she hints that something is wrong. Chris begins speaking cryptically about his daughters and the collapse, then reveals he doesn't want to live like this anymore. Carl realizes Chris is actually Maggie My, Frank's wife, who has been hunting him since floor three as an Infiltrator—a parasitic race that takes full control of living hosts. Maggie had obtained a Celestial Grenade from the Skull Empire (via Prince Maestro and his brother Crown Prince Stalwart) to summon Algos, the god of pain, to kill Carl and everyone in town. Katia shoots her three times with Petrify Rock bolts, each giving 60 seconds of paralysis. Chris, still conscious but completely controlled, messages through Elle and Imani begging them to kill him. Carl, desperate and guilt-ridden, prepares to finish Chris himself, but Donut intervenes by casting a spell that opens a hole in the street, dropping both Chris and Maggie into the sealed catacombs below. This traps them but keeps them alive. Imani suggests they could retrieve them after clearing the four castles and bring them to their game guide for an antiparasitic potion. Carl accepts this plan reluctantly, knowing it's dangerous but necessary. He tasks Mordecai with finding potion materials immediately and authorizes purchasing Donut an environmental upgrade to monitor social media comments.
