Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Overview
Carl and his team enter the fifth floor, a massive bubble containing four separate quadrants (Land, Sea, Air, and Subterranean), each with its own castle. They arrive in the Air Quadrant and discover the town of Hump Town, run by Dromedarians. The chapter reveals they must conquer all four castles in their bubble to proceed, with only 15 days to do so.
Summary
Carl, Donut, Katia, and Mordecai emerge onto the fifth floor's Air Quadrant, a desert zone swept by sandstorms. Carl receives an achievement and learns his bounty has doubled. Mordecai, now inhabiting a skyfowl cleric body, directs them to Hump Town, a settlement built against the Necropolis of Anser. At the town entrance, they meet Clay, a Dromedarian who demands a toll; Carl trades a blitz stick and they gain entry. The town is revealed to be a brothel settlement built in concentric rings, with City Hall at the center and a visible castle speck high above in the dome's ceiling. Mordecai explains they're inside a bubble—one of 1,172 such bubbles on this floor, each containing four quadrants with one castle each. The system announcement reveals the critical constraint: all four castles in their bubble must fall before the stairwell becomes passable. This means they have approximately four days per castle to succeed with help from other underpowered crawlers in their bubble. Mordecai expresses concern about their timeline and urges immediate preparation.
