50.      Second Expedition

Howard negotiates with Riker to obtain replication technology information while concealing his true motivations regarding Dr. Sheehy. He then confronts President Cranston over unauthorized alcohol distribution in New Jerusalem, escalating tensions between them and prompting Riker to suggest removing Cranston as a solution.

Howard approaches Riker requesting information on replicant creation technology, claiming it fills a gap in their knowledge base. Riker suspects Howard's real interest involves Dr. Sheehy, but Howard denies this. Riker agrees to help Howard circumvent Cranston's obstruction. Later, Howard intercepts a medical report on B. Sheehy and reviews it repeatedly. Howard then confronts President Cranston via video about alcohol products appearing in New Jerusalem despite his prohibition. Cranston accuses Howard of profiteering using colony equipment. Howard defends himself, noting he produces independently and plans to move production planetside. When Cranston threatens to restrict access to Howard's families, Howard invokes prior agreements signed by Cranston and threatens escalation. After Cranston breaks connection, Riker suggests the solution is to remove Cranston as "the irritant," to which Howard responds favorably.
