56.      Descendants

Howard attends a wedding on Vulcan and begins his final preparations to leave the colony. He transfers ownership of the distillery to the newlyweds as a wedding gift, saying goodbye to those closest to him and arranging for Dexter to become the resident Bob on Vulcan.

Howard attends the wedding of Stéphane Brodeur and Bridget on Vulcan. He has arranged through lawyer Ms. Benning to transfer full ownership of the distillery to the Brodeurs as a wedding gift, with all legal paperwork prepared and ready for their signatures. Howard meets with Dexter, who has arrived on Exodus-7 and agreed to stay on Vulcan as the resident Bob. Dexter is surprised by Howard's decision to leave, noting the cliché of the Foreign Legion departure. Howard explains he wants to explore other systems and watch new colonies grow, leaving Dexter with detailed instructions about the colony and the distillery. He then has farewell conversations with Stéphane and Bridget. Stéphane is emotionally moved and confused by Howard's generosity in giving away such a valuable asset, but accepts the papers without full explanation. Bridget confronts Howard about whether introducing her to Stéphane was part of a deliberate plan, and Howard awkwardly denies having orchestrated their relationship, claiming he simply wanted his two best friends together. Their final exchange is bittersweet, with Bridget expressing she wishes she had met Howard when he was still alive, and Howard departing with a somewhat detached parting line before disconnecting.
