Carl's team arrives at station 101 in their modified train to rescue trapped survivors, plowing through massive hordes of blister ghouls. During the chaos, they discover that Hekla has been secretly firing invisible phased bolts at Katia, attempting to kill her without detection. The rescue mission descends into violence as Donut attacks Hekla in response.

Carl's group departs on a modified subway train equipped with a specialized plow-scoop attachment operated by Katia to clear ghouls from the tracks. Eva pilots the train while Hekla, Donut, Silfa (a healer fairy), and Carl occupy the engine car. They accelerate down the tunnel, liquefying small groups of ghouls with ease. Approaching station 72, they hit a major horde of blister ghouls—creatures spawned continuously by soul crystal-powered generators. The train plows through with horrific violence, spraying gore into the cabin, though Katia becomes shocked when body parts lodge against the electrified third rail. Silfa initially hesitates to heal but eventually assists. After passing station 75 (where dead hobgoblins and gnolls indicate the crash interdiction teams were overrun), they continue for an hour and a half toward station 101. En route, Elle sends messages revealing that festering ghouls at station 48 have merged into a province-level boss, and wrath ghouls are gathering at station 36. Carl decides to prioritize stopping the jikininki ghouls at station 12 after rescuing the trapped survivors. Approaching station 101, they hit the main horde. The cabin quickly fills with gore and living ghoul parts as the train slows. Despite Eva's best efforts piloting with one of her four hands, the team struggles. During the chaos, Donut notices through her sunglasses that Hekla is firing invisible phased bolts at Katia mixed in with her regular arrows. These special bolts cause temporary amnesia and draining bleeds designed to kill without granting credit or experience to the killer. Katia's health plummets from the covert attacks. Carl orders Katia to disengage her mass form, and she collapses as a vulnerable humanoid. Carl extracts the invisible bolts from her shoulder and discovers their assassin-class nature. The train finally clears the horde and reaches station 101, where 500 ghouls are pushing back the survivors. When Hekla's Enraged buff fades, she appears confused to see Katia alive. Donut, furious at the betrayal, blasts Hekla with a full-strength Magic Missile.
