Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Overview
The party materializes in a moving subway train car on the fourth floor, "The Iron Tangle," a Moscow Metro-themed dungeon level. They navigate through multiple train cars while pursued by swarms of Drek monsters at Sirin Station and encounter two Jikininki janitors guarding a mysterious car. They use traps and magic to fight their way toward the transfer station while the train moves between stations.
Summary
The party emerges on the Red Line of The Iron Tangle, a subway system-themed floor with 9,375 stairwells. They find themselves in a moving Moscow Metro train car and must locate a stairwell within 10 days. Donut switches to the Football Hooligan class, gaining the Mascot skill which provides party bonuses when Mongo deals damage. The party discovers they are in car 20 of a 20-car train and investigate car 15, which shows as a question mark on Katia's map.
As the train approaches Sirin Station, they encounter hundreds of Drek monsters (level 6 demonic babies) swarming the platform. Forced to flee into car 15, they find it occupied by two Jikininki (level 17 janitors) wearing conductor outfits. After quickly defeating these creatures, the party realizes they are trapped between the Dreks pouring in from both sides.
Carl places an Alarm Module and Spike Module in the forward gangway to slow the Drek advance. At Mora Station 82, larger Psycho Sticker creatures board the train. Facing imminent breach of their defensive position, Carl casts Protective Shell, a static barrier spell that remains fixed in space as the train moves forward, using it as a bulldozer to crush pursuing mobs against the rear of the train. The party flees through cars 16-19, looting gold from slaughtered Dreks, and reaches car 20 with the next station (the transfer station) only four minutes away.
