110. A Million Stars

Shallan, Adolin, Kaladin, and their spren companions escape from the ship Honor's Path by jumping into the bead ocean of Shadesmar as the pursuing Fused close in. Azure stays behind with the ship to buy them time. The group uses Shallan's newfound ability to manipulate the beads and Kaladin's Lashing to reach the glass forest shore and begin their final journey toward Thaylen City and the Oathgate.

As the Fused approach, Captain Notum finally permits Shallan's group to leave the ship. Shallan and the others—Adolin, Kaladin, Syl, Adolin's deadeye spren, and Pattern—prepare for their escape. Azure declines to join them, choosing instead to remain on the ship to help the sailors and mentioning she seeks someone named Zahel. The group jumps into the bead ocean below the ship, sinking into the depths. Shallan uses Stormlight to feed a bead she'd collected earlier, which causes the surrounding beads to withdraw and form a small chamber. Kaladin reaches them without using Stormlight to conserve supplies. Pattern enters next. Syl, who released her grip while jumping, appears later at the shore, having hidden safely by the trees. After the group emerges onto land, they rest in a forest of glass plants. Both Pattern and Syl respond positively to the approach of a highstorm visible in the real world above. Kaladin burns two gemstones' worth of Stormlight to Lash the group into the air, launching them inland toward Thaylen City and the Oathgate that awaits them there.
