43. Spearman

Moash and his group of three are attacked in their camp by Voidbringers. After his companions are killed, Moash discovers he fights better with his spear than his Shardblade, defeats one Voidbringer, and then surrenders to avoid certain death. The Voidbringers take the Shardplate and Moash himself into the air.

Moash sits with Graves, Febrth, and Fia at their camp in the Frostlands, where tensions simmer over navigation disagreements. Moash reflects on his betrayal of Kaladin and Bridge Four, removing his Bridge Four patch when Graves orders him to hide it. As he stands alone outside camp, four Voidbringers descend on the group. Graves is killed immediately, followed swiftly by Febrth and Fia. Moash faces his attacker with his Shardblade but feels inadequate wielding the unwieldy weapon without his Plate. When his opponent knocks aside his Blade, a spear falls from the wagon. Moash dismisses his Shardblade and takes up the spear, finding confidence in the familiar weapon and Kaladin's training. He nearly defeats the Voidbringer woman but discovers she can hover in the air using dark light. In the ensuing struggle, Moash uses a knife to kill her. The three remaining Voidbringers offer him a choice: death or surrender his weapons. Moash breaks his Shardblade bond and surrenders both his weapons. The Voidbringers take the Shardplate, then haul Moash himself into the air, abducting him.
