I-9. Lift

Lift attempts a palace robbery during the Prime Aqasix selection ceremony, but is pursued by a relentless constable named Darkness wielding a Shardblade. After being captured, she uses her newfound Edgedancer powers to save the dying Gawx, an act that causes the viziers to declare him the new Prime, resulting in her pardon.

Lift leads a team of thieves into the Bronze Palace of Azir while government officials are distracted by selecting a new Prime Aqasix following recent murders. Accompanied by her spren Wyndle and the young thief Gawx, Lift sneaks through the palace seeking food rather than valuables. However, a mysterious constable called Darkness, who has pursued her across continents, arrives with minions carrying Shardblades. During their chase, Darkness's minion kills Gawx in the Prime's quarters. Lift abandons her escape to return to the dying boy, placing her forehead to his and channeling a shimmering light into him—an act of Regrowth that revives him. Exhausted and captured, Lift faces execution from Darkness, who views her powers as a threat to the world. However, the viziers and scions, interpreting Gawx's miraculous revival as a sign from the Heralds, declare him the new Prime Aqasix. Gawx uses his newfound authority to pardon Lift, forcing the emotionless Darkness to stand down and depart. Lift learns she is an Edgedancer, a member of an ancient order thought long extinct.
