Rhysand watches the training session with Cassian and Azriel at the Windhaven sparring rings. Only six girls—ranging from twelve to sixteen years old—are present, as some have left for Solstice with their families. Devlon oversees their dagger training while the more challenging Illyrian bows remain unused nearby. The three brothers discuss the broader situation: Azriel has compiled lists of troublemakers in the camps, with notable dissent coming from the Ironcrest camp, where Kallon (son of the rival lord) is actively stirring up discord and hostility toward both Rhysand and Cassian. Though Kallon is merely a warrior-novice not yet due for the Rite, he is described as dangerous. Azriel suggests potential accidents could occur during the Rite itself, but Cassian refuses to dishonor the Rite through tampering, insisting on addressing the threat directly. The males in the camp maintain distance from the girls' training area out of fear or disdain. Despite the grumblings, Rhysand views the girls' presence as a positive step forward.
