Chapter 27
Chapter 28: Feyre
Overview
A month after receiving the studio as a gift, Feyre and Ressina open an art school for children traumatized by war. Ten children and their parents arrive for the first day of classes, which will be free and taught by various local artists including the weaver Aranea.
Summary
Feyre and Ressina stand in the newly prepared studio on the morning of its opening, dressed in paint-splattered work clothes. The space features white walls in the front gallery with a tapestry depicting the Void and Hope hanging as reminders of loss and creation. Ten easels and stools are arranged in a circle awaiting students. After weeks of preparation, Feyre reflects on her vision for the school: a place where children traumatized by war can express their pain through art rather than words. She and Ressina had spread word through personal networks rather than broad advertisement, and the response from families and potential instructors has been overwhelming. The school will be free for all students and supplies, with Feyre teaching one class daily as her duties as High Lady allow, Ressina teaching another, and a rotating schedule of other artists including the weaver Aranea leading additional classes. When the first group of ten High Fae and faerie children arrive with some parents, Feyre greets them with nervousness and warmth, then begins the first lesson.
