Chapter 2

Carl descends into the dungeon's first floor with Donut the cat, discovering a game-like interface with achievements and information boxes. After encountering a Goblin Murder Dozer trap, he fights off two goblins and forces his way into the Tutorial Guild, where he meets Mordecai, a rat-like creature who guards the entrance.

Carl and Donut descend an ornate iron staircase into a massive underground chamber with a thirty-foot-tall door carved with a fish demon. Carl discovers he can mentally control information boxes that appear in his vision. Upon entering the main hallway, the doors close behind him and a voice identifies him as "Crawler Number 4,122" with the name "Carl." He receives multiple achievements for entering unprepared and with a cat, earning various loot boxes. Searching for the tutorial guild, Carl finds a neon sign reading "Da Tutorial Guild" in a dark alleyway and inadvertently triggers a trap. A goblin-operated steam-powered machine called the Goblin Murder Dozer—a massive contraption with spinning spikes—pursues him down the tunnel. Carl evades it by turning down a side hallway where he discovers the actual Tutorial Guild door. Two level-2 goblins corner him outside the locked door while the Murder Dozer approaches. Mordecai, a bearded rat creature, refuses to open the door because goblins are present, citing guild rules. Carl defeats the two goblins in hand-to-hand combat, killing one by repeatedly striking him. Donut wanders into the guild through the cracked door, prompting Mordecai to finally open the door fully. Carl rushes inside just as the Murder Dozer rolls past, crushing the goblin corpse. The goblins retreat as Carl slams the door shut behind him.
