Carl receives his inventory system and learns its mechanics from Mordecai. He then opens ten loot boxes in the guildhall, receiving various weapons, potions, and equipment, culminating in feeding Donut an Enhanced Pet Biscuit that triggers a mysterious transformation.

Mordecai activates Carl's dimensional inventory system, explaining its unlimited storage capacity and time-locked food preservation. He gifts Carl a Standard Healing Potion and demonstrates how to use the inventory and hotlist. Upon accessing his notifications, Carl discovers he has earned multiple achievements from his earlier battles, including a Legendary Pet Box, and has leveled up to level 2 with improved Pugilism skills. Mordecai explains the rules of loot boxes: they can only be opened in safe areas, must be opened all at once without selection, and never contain cursed items. Carl opens his ten boxes in tier order—bronze, silver, and gold—receiving healing potions, common weapons (Toad Cudgel and Poker), armor (Enchanted Nightgaunt Cloak of Stoutness and Enchanted Trollskin Shirt of Pummeling), an Enchanted Toe Ring of the Splatter Skunk, dynamite, a Goblin Pass branded onto his arm, and finally an Enhanced Pet Biscuit from the Legendary Pet Box. When Carl hesitates to feed the mysterious biscuit to Donut, the cat snatches it from his hand and consumes it, immediately transforming into a quivering, gelatinous mass. Mordecai indicates this is a non-negative transformation effect and that the cat will complete her metamorphosis within five to ten minutes.
