Chapter 33

Carl and Donut execute an elaborate plan to steal moonshine from a fairy-run production facility. Using Donut's charm ability, they lure the two laminak managers and their clurichaun workers into a trap, kill the fairies with explosives, and loot the room. They discover a bicycle-powered blender and a recipe for immunity smoothies against the Taint debuff, but before they can escape, the boss—a horrifying multi-tentacled creature with screaming mouths—breaks out of its chamber and traps them inside.

Carl and Donut approach the moonshine facility with a two-part strategy: Donut uses her Puddle Jumper spell to teleport into the room and charm the two laminak fairies managing the clurichauns. When the charm doesn't extend to the clurichauns themselves, they activate Plan Pied Piper, having Donut lead the fairies and workers through multiple chambers under the pretense of showing them dead bodies and evidence of kobold attacks. Carl positions himself in a foyer with two boom jugs (explosive devices). Once the clurichauns are gathered in a room, Carl detonates the jugs, killing approximately 40 monsters at once. The two fairies attempt to fight back with magic missiles; Carl uses his slingshot while Donut pursues the fleeing fairy, eventually killing both. They loot the room and discover 80 empty jugs, 60 full ones, and most importantly, a bicycle-powered blender with a recipe for immunity smoothies that protect against Taint and Vigorous Measles debuffs—clearly intended for fighting the boss. However, as Carl examines the equipment, the boss chamber door explodes open, releasing two fifteen-foot pink tentacles covered in dozens of screaming human mouths. Bars slam down, trapping them inside with the creature. The chapter ends with a new achievement announcing that bosses can leave their rooms, and Carl realizes they are now in combat with something far more dangerous than expected.
