Chapter 34

Carl and Donut face a Krakaren Clone boss monster in a chaotic fight while Carl brews a Rev-Up Immunity Smoothie using moonshine and a slain laminak fairy to protect them from disease. As the battle intensifies with multiple tentacles and clurichaun minions, Carl sends a zombie carrying an explosive device into the boss chamber and positions himself and Donut beneath an alchemy table as the bomb detonates.

The chapter opens with a system description of the Krakaren Clone, a level 10 neighborhood boss that is part of a collective hive mind bent on destroying scientific progress. The creature begins its assault by bursting tentacles through the walls of the room where Carl and Donut shelter. Carl identifies that the boss cannot see and instructs Donut to focus fire on the clurichaun consultants entering through the door while he prepares a recipe he has discovered. He fills a smoothie container one-third full with moonshine, then retrieves the corpse of the laminak fairy that Donut had killed earlier and stuffs it into the container. Using a bicycle-powered blender, Carl creates the Rev-Up Immunity Smoothie, which provides temporary immunity to health-seeping conditions and diseases but inflicts the Buzzed debuff, causing reduced dexterity and impaired perception. Both Carl and Donut consume doses of the smoothie, granting them protection but leaving them intoxicated. The Krakaren Clone continues its assault, sending tentacles through multiple walls and deploying a spray tentacle that releases green mist containing Vigorous Measles, though their immunity prevents infection. Carl, now drunk and injured, has Donut raise one of the fallen clurichauns as a zombie. He equips the zombie with a boom jug and dynamite, instructing it to run into the boss chamber as a living bomb. After the zombie charges past confused clurichauns and tentacles, Carl and Donut take shelter under an alchemy table. As the explosion occurs, Donut expresses her fear of continuing without Carl, but the blast detonates before Carl can respond.
