Chapter 101
Epilogue
Overview
In this epilogue, Sereme locates and exhumes Arkyn's frozen corpse from an unmarked grave, then burns his body with a magical weald to resurrect him as an undead servant bound to her will. A weather-beaten white-haired male—revealed to be Haedeon Neván—stumbles upon the scene, and Sereme greets him with an offering of food, suggesting a mysterious miskunn directed him there.
Summary
Sereme navigates the ash-dusted snow using a small metal contraption to map her location, following directions to an unmarked grave. She digs up two bodies: Arkyn and a red-haired female frozen beside him. After retrieving Arkyn's corpse and chastising it for ruining her gloves, Sereme extracts a piece of his flesh using a blood-binding vial, then douses his body in spirits. She produces a silver weald from her pocket, ignites it, and tosses it onto Arkyn, setting his body ablaze. The fire erupts with ruddy, gold-tipped plumage as the magical resurrection takes hold. A haggard male with white hair and blue eyes emerges from the gloom, drawn by hunger. Sereme identifies him as Haedeon Neván and offers him dried meat, implying a miskunn orchestrated his arrival at this location.
