Chapter 59
Chapter 58
Overview
The protagonist awakens from a deep inner communion haunted by visions of Elluin's devastating sacrifice, discovers a moonshard hidden in their chamber, and learns that Kaan and others have departed. Determined and armed, they set out into the misty night with their dragon companion Líri.
Summary
The protagonist surfaces from their internal lake, shaken by traumatic memories absorbed during a spiritual exchange—visions of Elluin singing to move a glacier and reveal a buried, lifeless village. Back in their physical form, they find a note from Kaan warning that important matters were missed during their extended sleep. Upon investigating, they discover a small silver moonshard (a fragment Kaan obtained) hidden beneath their white cloak, which triggers a wave of conflicted emotion they suppress. They quickly prepare for departure, arming themselves with blades and disguising their face. Roan informs them that Kaan and the others left during the aurora's descent, roughly midslumber. Despite Roan's pointed question about whether they're leaving to rescue anyone, the protagonist insists they are "not the rescuing type" and departs through a hidden door. Outside in thick fog, they are met by their dragon Líri, who communicates a desire to accompany them on their mission. The protagonist agrees, recognizing the fog will provide cover and that Líri has already decided the matter.
