AFTERWORD

Chapter 92

Chapter 91

Overview

After defeating Bulder in a catastrophic battle, Raeve and Kaan must separate as moons begin falling from the sky. Arkyn unexpectedly survives and flees on an Elding Bird; Raeve chooses to pursue their daughter Kyzari instead of vengeance, while Kaan mounts Rygun to hunt Arkyn down, despite severe wounds.

Summary

In the molten pit's aftermath, Kaan restrains a bloodlust-consumed Raeve, pulling her back from the brink of losing herself to rage. As they steady each other, Arkyn emerges riding an Elding Bird and flees cowardly toward The Fade, spurring Rygun to challenge him. Before pursuit can begin, the ground convulses—a moon falls from the sky, a catastrophe Kaan recognizes with dread. Facing an impossible choice, Kaan offers Raeve the chance to hunt Arkyn using Rygun, but she refuses, choosing instead to find their daughter Kyzari, whom they must still rescue. Kaan pledges to end Arkyn himself. Despite her hesitation over his grave wounds, Raeve departs, and Kaan, wracked with pain now that the tonic's effects have worn away, discovers Rygun's own emotional barrier—a scaled wall of vulnerability. Kaan mounts the dragon, collects weapons from the rubble, and together they launch skyward to pursue Arkyn, driven by resolve to survive and reunite with their family.
