Chapter 11

Carl awakens from a coma in the back of a cart after his failed assassination attempt on the mayor of Zockau left him severely wounded. As the group travels to safety, Carl reviews his achievements from killing over 34 hunters and 200+ NPCs, while Miriam (now a vampire healer), Prepotente (the goat-turned-crawler), and Bianca (Miriam's demonic familiar) tend to him. The chapter culminates in a comedic conflict with Prepotente over insults that Miriam forces them to resolve through apology and awkward reconciliation.

Carl regains consciousness in a railway cart modified with wooden wheels, pulled by Bianca, Miriam's hellspawn familiar—a demonic goat now the size of a draft horse. He suffers from the Sore as Shit and Blood Trail debuffs but is healing with Miriam's help. Donut explains they barely escaped the city alive, with Miriam, Prepotente, and Bianca instrumental in their survival. Miriam, revealed to be a vampire who feeds on blood from Prepotente's kills, provides comfort and healing magic. Carl learns they were traveling ahead of him with plans involving debuffs to weaken the hunters and mayor, but their efforts were blocked by the hunters' apparent cheating with external information feeds. Carl has advanced to level 54 and acquired 34 Hunter-Killer boxes from killing hunters, plus a Platinum Asshole's Box for the Mass Casualty Event achievement (250+ NPC deaths). Zev contacts them via chat to inform them of an upcoming appearance on Odette's show tomorrow and warns of new security protocols. When they approach Zockau's entrance, Carl impulsively casts Tripper to destroy a line of decapitation traps rather than wait for Prepotente to disarm them, triggering the goat's outrage at the insult to his abilities. Miriam intervenes, forcing Carl and Prepotente into an apology and reconciliation, which awkwardly concludes with Carl hugging the emotional goat.
