Chapter 47

Carl arrives at the production facility to meet Dmitri and Maxim, a two-headed ogre creature and the fifth-ranked dungeon crawler. After an awkward introduction, Zev informs Carl and the twins that they will be doing a meet-and-greet signing with fans, and reveals that Carl has a new replacement sponsor whose identity will be revealed at the end of the event.

Carl transports to the production facility's green room where he meets Dmitri and Maxim, the two-headed ogre twins who are the fifth-ranked dungeon crawler. The twins are confined to a small, sparse room with minimal comforts. Maxim is a Bogatyr (melee-focused) while Dmitri is a Visionary (mage class). Dmitri is disappointed that Donut the cat is not present, having wanted to meet her, and expresses sadness about his own cat, Kapitan Whiskers, who he had obtained the day before he and Maxim became conjoined. Zev and another kua-tin named Skindle arrive and announce that Carl, Dmitri, and Maxim will be participating in a meet-and-greet signing with approximately 300 lottery-selected fans, 30 premium fans, and press. Zev cryptically reveals that Carl's new replacement sponsor has been chosen and will present him with a benefactor box during the event, but declines to reveal the sponsor's identity in advance, stating the previous winning bidder was unable to pay. The signing is expected to last between two to four hours, and Skindle warns them to be efficient.
