Tempest’s Floor 8 Recap School Report

Tempest, a young nullian student, interviews her uncle Quasar about Floor 8 for a school report on perceptions of the crawl. Quasar provides a crude but comprehensive recap of the floor's events, including Carl's acquisition of various monster cards, the chaotic card battles, the death of crawler Tsren, Sister Ines's corruption and subsequent execution, and the binding curse placed on both Donut and Katia regarding the Naga on Floor 9. He concludes by hinting at genuine danger ahead.

Tempest arrives at Quasar's residence to conduct an interview for her school report, trading plumbing work in exchange for information. Quasar provides a rambling recap of Floor 8: Carl and Donut collected multiple monster cards including a seal, a crab named Raul, a giant cat, a donkey-snake creature, and combined beings that became Lazarus, along with an Alpha Carl card. The floor's card-based battles devolved into chaos. Carl was forced to kill a crawler named Quan who stole his key, after which crawler Tsren died and Carl inherited her flamethrower and pet meatball. Sister Ines, a nun revealed to be a serial killer, descended into madness and allied with demon Amayon before Louis killed her, resulting in Louis being marked for death by the god Ysalte (who was subsequently killed by Paz). Quasar emphasizes the critical constraint for Floor 9: both Donut and Katia cannot leave until all Naga are dead, and only one can ultimately depart. Katia has a deal involving a flower and potential ascension to become a 12th floor attendant. The floor involves ten faction teams competing, including the NPC faction led by the dangerous changeling Juice Box. Rich players like Prince Stalwart and Operatic are now vulnerable to actual death. Most significantly, Carl has a spider embedded in his chest from the mysterious Eye of the Bedlam Bride card, and the implications remain unknown. When Tempest turns off the recorder to ask seriously whether Quasar faces danger representing Carl, he admits they all do.
