Milk

Milk, a indentured xenopus guildmaster who has been sleeping for seasons, awakens to chaos on the fifth floor of Club Vanquisher. A vampire crawler and her caprid son, fleeing from guards after the vampire's race change revoked their club access, burst into Milk's hidden guild with their hellspawn familiar. After the pet nearly incinerates her, Milk decides to break her long isolation and help them escape.

Milk wakes to screaming, explosions, and sirens alerting the guards. Malnourished and stiff from extended sleep, she checks her interface and realizes the chaos is unusual for the fifth floor. Two crawlers and a hellspawn familiar burst through her hidden guild door, fleeing guards in the hallway. The older female crawler is a newly-turned vampire named Miriam, and her caprid son Prepotente is furious about her lost access to Club Vanquisher. Their pet, Bianca, attacks Milk with fire magic, but she protects herself with a power word inscribed on her skin. Miriam apologizes and treats Milk's burns with magical salve—an unprecedented act of generosity from a crawler to an NPC. As the mantaur guards pound on the guild doors and ogre guards approach, Milk reveals she is a former vesper crawler turned indentured cartographer. She recognizes the trio's dire situation and decides to help them escape, offering information about secret exits from Club Vanquisher in exchange for the appearance of a threat that would justify her sharing such information. Milk retrieves her map to assist their escape.
