Chapter 4

The chapter concludes with Donut insisting Carl use a hair restoration tonic before they leave the saferoom, while their party members begin returning from various locations.

Carl opens numerous loot boxes with Donut, receiving Build Trench scrolls, potions, ammunition for his father's Glock (which he refuses to use), pet supplies, and crafting materials for his automaton table. Notable gold and legendary boxes contain bagpipes, a town upgrade coupon, an Upgrade Patch depicting a traveling Reaper Spider Minion merchant that grants access to the Midnight Market, and an Enchanted Toe Ring of the Well-Balanced that Carl equips on his left pinky toe. Mordecai warns them both that they are now the most powerful crawlers he has worked with. Carl then focuses on recruiting officers and consolidating the crawlers under one leadership to prepare for the eight armies awaiting them. Donut insists Carl use a hair restoration tonic before leaving, and as they wait for Katia to arrive, Louis messages that Samantha is chasing someone named Tish. Katia pursues and captures Samantha to bring her back to the saferoom. The chapter ends with Samantha mentioning Carl promised her she could name his new pet.
