AFTERWORD

Chapter 30

Chapter 29

Overview

Feysand confronts Rhysand in the snow after he used her as bait, demanding he teach her to become a weapon rather than treat her like a pawn. After their heated argument, Feysand questions why the King of Hybern wants her, and Rhysand apologizes and offers to return her to the chateau.

Summary

Feyre, sprawled atop Rhysand in the snow, confronts him furiously for using her as bait, her talons emerging in her anger. She demands he teach her to become a weapon as he promised, rather than manipulate her like a chess piece, and threatens to end their arrangement if that's what working for him entails. Rhysand, initially laughing, becomes grave as she pushes back against him. When she demands to return to the chateau, he apologizes—an admission she notes he rarely makes. As he helps her up, Feyre asks why the King of Hybern wants her, specifically whether it's because she can nullify the Cauldron's power with the Book. Rhysand's darkness flickers dangerously at the question, and he says he intends to find out. He apologizes again and suggests they have breakfast before going home. Feyre corrects him: Velaris is not her home. She notices what might be hurt crossing his face before he winnows them back to her family's house.
