AFTERWORD

Chapter 63

Chapter 61

Overview

Feyre pursues and kills the Attor in aerial combat above Velaris, plunging with it toward the ground while inflicting fatal wounds. Rhysand arrives as the Attor crashes to the cobblestones, and he comforts Feyre as the city begins to process the aftermath of the invasion.

Summary

Feyre spots the Attor fleeing toward the sea and Hybern, still over Velaris. She winnows directly onto the creature and drives poisoned ash arrows through its wings, crippling it. As they fall toward the city, Feyre transforms into living flame and wraps around the Attor, keeping it locked in her grip despite its violent thrashing. She stabs it three times with her dagger—once for Rhysand, once for Clare Beddor, and once for herself—driving the blade deep into its rib cage and leaving it embedded as she winnows away from the falling creature. She emerges nearby, exhausted and battered, and watches the Attor crash onto the cobblestones below, leaving only twisted wings, shattered bone, and burned flesh. Rhysand's wave of dark power sweeps across the city, seeking out remaining hidden soldiers before dissipating. Rhysand lands beside Feyre, touches her face, and kisses her gently. He names her "Feyre Cursebreaker, the Defender of the Rainbow." As the city begins to weep and grieve, Rhysand holds Feyre while she sobs.
