Chapter 11

Carl returns to base with his team after a race. While Donut inspects bootleg merchandise bearing her name and Samantha salvages items from debris, Carl acquires and resets a white cleaner bot previously used by Architect Houston. The group then gathers in the garage where mysterious gremlins perform repairs on the vehicle, and Hedy advises Carl to learn about his fellow racers.

Carl finds Donut examining a bootleg makeup palette with her brand name, complaining about the poor quality and colors like "Neon Blue." Samantha emerges from a garbage pile wearing bright red lipstick from a product called "Pussy Lips," claiming ownership of the used item. Carl instructs the cleaner bot to be careful with important items in the debris. He retrieves a white cleaner bot from his inventory and hands it to Mordecai, asking him to reset it. Mordecai notes it's an old model that has blood on it from Architect Houston's operating theater and proceeds to reset it by pressing controls on top and flipping it over. Carl redirects Donut's complaints toward the group's need to reset buffs and prepare to leave. The group enters the garage where Splash Zone, Dong, Mongo, and Rend sit watching Hedy balance and flip a massive wrench on her finger. New gremlins the group hasn't seen before are crawling over the vehicle performing repairs—one gnaws chicken, two attempt to remove the giant tommy gun from the truck. When Carl protests about the gun, the gremlins flip him off and laugh. Hedy explains these creatures appear for the first few hours after races to do bulk repairs, disappearing afterward, though she doesn't believe they're real gremlins and doesn't fully understand their purpose. Donut puts an Egyptian hat on Mongo and a headband on Rend. Hedy advises Carl to learn about his fellow racers to know who to trust. Carl responds that they trust no one, and Hedy expresses satisfaction with this attitude.
