Chapter 26

Rend resurrects for the sixth time and gains increased strength but gains potatoes as a new weakness, much to Carl's frustration. Tipid and Rosetta return with news about finding a fleshmancer, a lead on the performance guild's location, and two level 25 jikininki ghouls as mercenaries.

Rend dies and is brought back to life by the dungeon's resurrection system. As his sixth death, he retains his memories and becomes 25% stronger, but the system adds potatoes as a new random weakness to his existing list. Carl complains to the ceiling about the arbitrary assignment. Mongo celebrates Rend's revival emotionally. Carl discusses with Imani in chat about where to keep Rend, given that he nearly escapes to the garage. Imani mentions the guild's pet stables where other creatures like Simoom the rhino and Gonk the yak are kept. Carl decides to keep Rend in his inventory for the time being. Tipid and Rosetta then arrive at the door with news. Rosetta has vegetables from the market and Tipid carries a corn dog. They report finding a fleshmancer and provide information about the performance guild—Tipid believes it is hidden in a bar Carl has already visited but warns the access requirements won't be liked. Behind them stand two tall, skeletal level 25 jikininki ghouls, the same type as janitor mobs from the Iron Tangle. These creatures are the mercenaries Tipid and Rosetta found. Rosetta notes they are undead and cautions against letting Rend near them, though Donut quips that it is too late given Rend has already eaten undead flesh.
