Chapter 57

Carl and Donut perform the karaoke song "Take On Me" while a massive bar brawl erupts around them. Despite the chaos—fighting monsters, fire, and various interventions—they manage to complete the performance successfully enough for Carl to gain permanent access to the Stage Performance Guild, though Donut fails her performance evaluation.

The chapter opens as violence breaks out in the bar when Dwight, a drunken unicorn, blames Carl and Donut for the death of Lucienne the gremlin and attempts to attack them. His throw misses and hits Yuto instead, triggering a cascading series of fights between the Yokai team, scarecrows, and other monsters. Carl and Donut begin singing "Take On Me" as required, despite bottles and combatants flying across the stage. Dong Quixote, Mongo, Imani, Louis, Britney, and Bautista all become involved in protecting the various teams from being eliminated. During the performance, a fairy hurls a fireball that ignites the stage curtains; Louis and Britney extinguish the spreading flames while the song continues. Coins from Dong Quixote's sock weapon scatter across the floor, drawing scavengers into the fray. Dekoki the kappa, paralyzed and drained of water, falls into Donut during her final line. Despite the destruction—including the DJ booth exploding—Carl completes the song successfully and receives permanent access to the Stage Performance Guild and a new achievement revealing hidden guild locations. Donut receives a FAIL rating but admits she loves the song.
