Chapter 87

After a harrowing battle with mimics in the Desperado Club, the group defeats the creatures and successfully activates the Wheel of Fortune to create an escape portal. Louis departs through the portal to an unknown destination, while the party grieves the loss and prepares to leave the floor. As they make their way to the exit, they encounter a distressed version of Imani trapped in the building, unable to leave.

Following the mimic fight, Imani stabilizes two critically wounded crawlers. Donut identifies the broken Wheel of Fortune's button mechanism, which when held in the correct position while spinning, can open a portal. The group discusses the mimic infestation threat and agrees to use safe words and daily quizzes to verify each other's identities. Louis, who has overcome his lifelong fears, decides to jump through the portal to an unknown destination rather than risk the group's safety. Before departing, he exchanges final words with Carl, Donut, and Elle. Samantha grieves but accepts his decision. Carl and Donut grieve Louis's departure as they prepare to leave the floor. Lucia briefly appears to pat Carl's head before leaving mysteriously. The party leaves a warning about the mimic infestation on Clarabelle's chair and heads toward the exit. Elle confronts Carl about keeping secrets regarding the Eye of the Bedlam Bride tattoo and his connection to Britney, demanding answers after they complete the next floor. As they travel through the garage area, Donut secretly transfers Onikuma the bear and Old Shuck the dog to their vehicle for later use. In the building's main lobby, they encounter a giant, distressed version of Imani, trapped and unable to leave the building. Donut uses her microphone to reassure Imani that in the real world she has already escaped and built a new life with friends and a partner named Chris. The group then exits the floor using the rocket button.
