Bob awakens in a new location after being copied and discovers that the Bobiverse has suffered catastrophic losses. Multiple Bobs have been destroyed, and the survivor population is in crisis as they struggle to understand what happened and mount a response.

Bob regains consciousness in a new instance, disoriented and attempting to piece together his recent memories. He discovers he has been copied into a new body and realizes that something catastrophic has occurred. Communications with other Bob instances reveal devastating losses across the Bobiverse—multiple Bobs have been destroyed or incapacitated. The surviving Bobs gather information about attacks and system failures, learning that their distributed network has been compromised. They work to establish communication protocols, account for survivors, and begin investigating the nature and origin of the threat that has decimated their population. The chapter establishes a state of emergency and uncertainty as the Bobs confront the reality that their existence is under serious threat.
