AFTERWORD

Chapter 17

10.Hunted

Overview

Bob, living as an android among the Deltans in Camelot, is hunted by Fred and his group from the neighboring village of Caerleon. Bob evades them using his android abilities while maintaining his cover as a regular Deltan, then discusses the incident with Donald, recognizing that Fred's aggression may signal a larger conflict between the two villages.

Summary

Bob spends the morning enjoying the Deltan life alongside Archimedes' family before setting out to hunt. His surveillance drones alert him to pursuit by Fred and four companions intent on capturing or killing him. Rather than risk exposure of his android nature or resort to violence, Bob uses his technological advantages—disabling his scent and moving with inhuman silence—to slip behind his pursuers and escape. He follows them back toward Caerleon but fails to isolate Fred. Later, discussing the encounter with Donald at Archimedes' work site, Bob expresses surprise at the intensity of Fred's vendetta. Donald casually suggests they hunt down Fred themselves, but Bob indicates the problem runs deeper than one individual's grudge. Bob notes the need to investigate Caerleon more thoroughly to understand what might be driving the aggression from that village.
