The Bobiverse encounters organized opposition in the form of revolutionaries and hostile forces across multiple locations. At 82 Eridani, the flying cities come under attack from coordinated groups with advanced weaponry. The Bobs discover that their expansion and presence has attracted enemies—both human factions seeking to seize Bob technology and alien species viewing them as threats. Combat ensues with cities fighting for survival, requiring evacuation, defensive maneuvers, and strategic retreats. Key infrastructure is damaged and casualties mount. The Bobs must reorganize their forces, repair damaged cities, and reassess their position. Political tensions emerge regarding how to respond to the threats, with debates over military action versus diplomatic solutions. Eventually, the Bobs mount a counteroffensive, push back the revolutionary forces, and achieve a military victory. However, the conflict leaves deep marks on their civilization—casualties among human colonists, infrastructure damage, and the realization that their existence and expansion has made them targets. In the aftermath, the Bobiverse begins reconstruction efforts and faces the question of what their role should be in galactic affairs going forward. A pilgrimage or journey is undertaken, possibly to assess damage or establish new settlements.
