Feyre returns to Velaris with Lucien and is reunited with Rhysand after weeks apart. She reveals herself as High Lady to Lucien and the Inner Circle, and she and Rhysand reconnect intimately in their bedroom, addressing their separation and reaffirming their bond.

Feyre arrives at the Night Court townhouse in Velaris via Mor's winnowing, accompanied by Lucien, Cassian, and Azriel. Lucien is struck by the city's vitality and normalcy. Amren emerges and assesses Lucien with her characteristic bluntness, noting his metal eye and learning his name. Feyre explains that Lucien has renounced his family name. Rhysand appears and Feyre becomes emotionally overwhelmed at the reunion. After dismissing the others, Rhysand carries her to their shared bedroom. During their private conversation, Feyre learns that Rhysand was on the continent near the human queens' palace gathering intelligence about their silence since Hybern's attack. He sensed the mating bond awakening and sent the others to retrieve her instead. Feyre explains her capture and drugging with faebane by Hybern commanders, whom she killed. Rhysand reports that Tamlin's forces have fractured—his sentries abandoned him and half his people refused the Tithe, with some spreading word that he allowed Hybern to terrorize Feyre into fleeing. Ianthe is convalescing in her temple after her fall. Feyre also learns that Cassian's wings required extensive healing but he is recovering well. After bathing, Feyre and Rhysand consummate their reunion, with Feyre reaffirming through the mating bond that he is hers, and Rhysand declaring his love and that he missed her companionship as much as her physically.
