Chapter 83
Chapter 82
Overview
In the aftermath of the battle, Feyre and Rhysand share an intimate moment alone on a rooftop in Velaris. They exchange vows of devotion, receive matching tattoos, and end the chapter flying together through the starlit city as a celebration of their survival and newfound peace.
Summary
Feyre finds Rhysand alone on the roof of the House of Wind at night, watching the stars. She sits in his lap wearing a red lace nightgown that a shop owner gifted her as thanks for saving them during the Hybern conflict. They discuss Amren's new role as Second despite losing her powers and becoming High Fae instead. Feyre expresses her fear about the moments when Rhysand was seemingly dead during the battle, and Rhysand reveals he heard her voice calling to him in that darkness, which made him choose to return. They make a bargain to face the afterlife together when their time comes. Rhysand marks them both with matching tattoos on their left arms—his integrated seamlessly with the bargain mark already on hers. He mentions that Bryaxis has disappeared and will need to be retrieved. Feyre asks if Rhysand will join her on this and all future adventures, and he affirms his commitment. After kissing her, Rhysand takes flight with Feyre in his arms, soaring over Velaris. The city below shows signs of recovery from the war, with candles lighting damaged areas. Rhysand then releases her so she can summon and test her own wings, which she successfully does. They fly together through the night sky, with Rhysand showing her the wonders of Velaris as they brush wings and celebrate their shared future.
