Chapter 3
Chapter 2
Overview
Feyre reunites with Jurian and meets two Hybern royals, Prince Dagdan and Princess Brannagh, who have arrived to survey the wall and plan its destruction. She must gather intelligence on their timeline while concealing her allegiance to Rhysand and maintaining her cover as a loyal mate to Tamlin.
Summary
Feyre has received minimal contact from Rhysand since arriving at the Spring Court estate weeks earlier. She communicates once down their mating bond, learning that her friends are alive and healing, but avoids further contact to prevent detection of the bond's lingering scent. When Jurian arrives with the Hybern twins, Feyre witnesses their cruelty toward humans and realizes the danger they pose to the mortal lands beyond the wall. She establishes her cover by defending Tamlin's honor against Jurian's provocations and positioning herself as the lady of the house. During lunch, the twins attempt to invade Lucien's and Tamlin's minds while Jurian taunts them about past conflicts. Feyre reveals her daemati powers by intercepting the mental attack with black adamant shields and striking back against the twins' mental defenses, making her position of strength clear without fully exposing her allegiance. She learns the twins plan to inspect the wall the next day and that they may have already attempted to resurrect Miryam using the Cauldron.
