Chapter 47
Overview
After the contentious alliance meeting concludes, the group retires to Thesan's palace for the night. Helion arrives to discuss war strategy privately, and Feyre discovers crucial information about Lucien's parentage. Nesta experiences an unexplained sense of dread that prompts Rhys and the others to search the palace and surrounding lands, finding nothing amiss. The chapter ends with Mor and Helion departing together while Feyre and Rhysand share an intimate moment discussing the emotional toll of the day's revelations.
Summary
The alliance meeting adjourns with all parties agreeing to stay overnight at Thesan's palace, though tensions remain high due to Tamlin's presence and Azriel's earlier savage attack on Eris. Rhysand and Feyre discuss the day's negotiations in their suite, with Rhys revealing he has significant Illyrian and Darkbringer forces. Helion arrives alone to continue strategic discussions and reveals details about the Lady of Autumn's past: her two older sisters were killed by Hybern's forces during the War, and Helion rescued her from beasts at a ravine. Through Mor's interjection, it emerges that Helion and the Lady of Autumn had a decades-long affair after he saved her, which Beron eventually discovered. Feyre deduces that Lucien is Helion's illegitimate son, not Beron's, explaining the family's treatment of him and his golden-brown skin tone. Nesta suddenly arrives insisting something feels dangerously wrong, prompting Rhysand, Cassian, and Azriel to search the palace and surrounding lands extensively, finding nothing amiss. Despite the unsettling sensation, the group remains for dinner where Helion and Mor exchange charged glances. Later, Mor and Helion depart together to her bedroom. In their own chamber, Feyre and Rhysand discuss the day's emotional toll, including Tamlin's lingering love and Feyre's attempt to find Rhysand's mother and sister's wings at the Spring Court. Feyre confesses she cannot be intimate while Tamlin is in the palace, and Rhysand tenderly agrees to simply hold her through the night.
