Overview
Carl's party enters a corrupted cemetery and discovers it is actually a Medium Ghommid Settlement—a town populated by spirit creatures that have been turned into hostile undead monsters. After Paz inadvertently aggravates the undead with his Santero class, they are locked inside and forced to fight their way through hordes of grotesque ghommids to reach a saferoom. The encounter ends when a mysterious high-level boss emerges from the fog and follows them into the sanctuary.
Summary
The chapter begins with Paz, Donut, Sister Ines, and Anton discussing their recent encounters with the card game bosses, which include creatures from pop culture and mythology. Sister Ines expresses anger at how sacred traditions and myths are being trivialized and mixed with modern fiction. Carl's group circles the Colón Cemetery in Havana, discovering it has been transformed into a supernatural zone surrounded by a black spiked fence and filled with fog. Carl reconnoiters from above using a levitate potion and confirms the area contains numerous mobs, along with a chapel in the center (revealed to be a Club Vanquisher saferoom) and a bathroom. Upon entering, they trigger a compulsory quest: Pueblo de los Olvidados. The quest explains the settlement was populated by Ghommids—otherworldly creatures—but an unknown spirit has corrupted them into ravenous undead. Paz's Santero class causes the already-unsettled dead to aggravate, and the gate seals behind them, trapping the party inside. The area is littered with Spirit Box Set Traps that root victims in place and summon non-corporeal entities to possess or attack them. Combat erupts immediately with three Level 30 unsettled Ghommids featuring grotesque appearances. Carl disarms traps and casts Tripper to set off the remaining ones, summoning many ghommids at once. The party fights through the horde, using healing potions, magic attacks, and smoke curtains to push toward the saferoom. During the escape, Carl is frozen by an owl-like creature that drains him before Mongo and Sister Ines save him. The party reaches the saferoom—a crypt called The Yellow Zone—using Puddle Jump. Before entering, Carl spots a barefoot man in a straw headdress emanating black tendrils, holding a wand-like object and appearing to be the boss (Level 130). Carl retreats inside and closes the door. The man calmly follows them into the saferoom, revealing he is not Christ.
