Chapter 3

Odette's crawler team faces two summoned storm gods on the tenth floor as the level collapses. To activate the puzzle and reach the eleventh floor, Odette orchestrates a dark plan: she convinces Chaco to use the Dart of Ophiotaurus on his own party member Uzzi, summoning a deity into him that will destroy itself and the sponsored god Dodola, allowing them to escape.

Odette monitors her crawler team's final challenge on the tenth floor as acid rain pours and the level begins collapsing. The team has assembled a nine-piece puzzle that requires a god-tier storm spell or direct contact with a deity to activate. Mordecai, who has been setting up a summoning box, returns in weakened form. Two gods manifest: the AI-controlled Adad and the sponsored Dodola, driven by wealthy grixist Huanxin Jinx. Odette had arranged a bribe with Huanxin to secure the goddess's help, but Huanxin repeatedly raises her price, first to 33%, then to 50%. Facing this extortion and the imminent level collapse, Odette rejects the deal. When Mordecai proposes using his Final Blow skill to sacrifice himself, Odette instead devises an alternative: she orders Chaco to worship Dodola and use the Dart of Ophiotaurus on Uzzi, their party's warrior. Uzzi, understanding the necessity, accepts his fate. The dart summons Dodola into Uzzi's body, causing the god to appear in a containment circle. Dodola's lightning spell bounces within the circle and destroys itself in a level-20 explosion, killing both the god and Uzzi. The puzzle activates, the key forms, and the stairwell opens. Chaco gains ten levels from the godkill achievement. Mordecai, discovering the deception, attacks Chaco and both tumble into the stairwell with Hold Steady following. Odette, alone on the collapsing floor, realizes she has secured her freedom. Mordecai, now on the eleventh floor, sends a final message vowing to kill her.
