Chapter 65

Carl arrives at the capitol building where Ren and Quan are engaged in a card battle. With Donut fighting elsewhere, Carl uses an exploit to send her summoned totems to aid the fight. After an intense battle involving multiple totem combinations and the unexpected arrival of a demon prince, Quan is finally defeated and killed—but the exit door begins to crumble, threatening to destroy the keys needed to escape.

Carl teleports into Havana's capitol building, finding Ren engaged in a card battle against Quan. He positions himself invisibly near the entrance while a red spider automaton serves as an emergency teleport trigger hidden nearby. Inside, Ren fights with her squad (Chuluuna and Garret) against Quan, who summons various totems including a level-12 slug and a turtle. Carl witnesses an area-wide notification: the Madre de Aguas has succumbed to zombism and a demon prince named Amayon has entered the realm, triggering a quest opportunity. Carl signals Donut to send her summoned totems—Lazarus (combined with Skylar Spinach), Jola, and others—to aid the fight. When Lazarus arrives, he's immediately consumed by Basquiat, Ren's death worm totem, which Quan has flipped to his side using a Toss-Up card. Lazarus's death causes Skylar to split, reviving Uzi Jesus and Asojano as stronger Gold Editions. Jola the Yule Cat uses Fashion Critic to strip Quan of his clothes and magical cloak, revealing a tattoo of a young girl on his stump. Carl takes the cloak and a ring reading "For Daddy" that was attached to Quan's severed arm. Uzi Jesus and Asojano continue attacking as Quan lies helpless. Before Carl can finish him, Quan dies from his wounds. The battle ends, but a ceiling collapse damages the exit stairwell, which will become unusable in five minutes, threatening the keys needed for escape.
