Carl's team returns to the saferoom after completing their keymaster battle to find an unexpected Christmas celebration in progress. After successfully navigating the Iowa chunk collapse and defeating zombie farm animals in Florida, Carl and Donut discover thousands of dead monk seal corpses lining the beach—clearly a dungeon-generated warning about what awaits in Cuba. They gather valuable loot scattered among the bodies and return to the saferoom hours before the recap episode. Upon arrival, they find the space decorated for Christmas, with Louis having orchestrated the celebration using decorations from the memory simulation and items found in the dungeon. Despite Carl's initial irritation at the inappropriateness given the deadly trials ahead, Louis passionately argues that they deserve one night of normalcy and joy. Carl relents, agreeing to cook turkey for the celebration. Following the announcement, multiple Faction Wars teams attempt to abandon their spots but are blocked by Syndicate quarantine rules that suspend all offboarding requests. Carl receives a mysterious benefactor box from the Open Intellect Pacifist Network that arrives via liaison action, the message cryptically suggesting he open it alone.
