Chapter 30

Carl and Donut ambush and capture Raul, a ninja crab with high Intelligence who was meditating to cast a power-boosting spell. After a tense battle inside a U-haul truck using phasing potions and debuff spells, they obtain his card. Later, while waiting for a crab migration to pass, they research Shi Maria, the spider holding Samantha, and discover she may be deceiving Samantha about her ability to restore a body.

Carl and Donut stalk the ninja crab Raul atop a crashed U-haul truck. Donut identifies his stats via Inspect: 150 Intelligence, 75 Dexterity, 50 Strength (with triple claw damage), and reveals he's out of mana from casting Chi Cultivator repeatedly. He also has meditation-based spells like Water Cannon, Bris, and a ten-second Magic Protection Shell. Realizing Raul is only practicing lines and hasn't actually sensed them, they move in. Donut casts Hole beneath him, dropping him into the truck bed, then mutes him. Carl uses Phase Through Walls potions to phase in and out of the truck, landing multiple punches while Donut attempts to close the door using weighted rope (unsuccessfully due to lacking leverage). After Brain Freeze and fear smoke reduce Raul's health to critical, Carl finishes him with the flag, obtaining his card. The back door closes easily with a single pull, revealing Donut's rope plan was flawed. Later, as they wait out a massive crab migration, Carl researches Shi Maria in the Bahamas book. The Screamer is a demi-god spider formerly from the celestial realm, accused of murdering her missing husband and now imprisoned in torment. She specializes in illusion and mind-bending magic, including level-15 Unending Insanity and Lights Out spells. Carl notes her listed abilities don't include any spell capable of animating Samantha's body, suspecting Shi Maria is lying to Samantha. They've prepared Liquid Therapy potions to protect against her fear and blindness effects. A system message notes the Goddess Semiramis has re-ascended, one of several gods awakened by crawlers on the 12th floor. A quest update arrives regarding Sister Ines Quiteria's negotiation with the Monk Seal Abbot about the crabs' planned treachery.
