Carl finds himself trapped in Amayon's hand as the demon punches himself repeatedly, while his party fights off swarming demons around the collapsing FOSCA building.

Carl deliberately gets his health below 5% by positioning himself inside Samantha's body to trigger his Martyr's Path ability, which will coat his steps in Sheol fire. The timing is critical—he needs to activate it while underneath Amayon so the enhanced fire will strengthen the demon. His health drops dangerously low as he's burned by acid, but the ability activates at 7% health instead of the required 5%. Before he can process his failure, a world notification announces that Paz Lo has slain the goddess Ysalte, instantly completing the quest "The Missing Piece: Part One." System messages reveal that a deity has fallen, all of Ysalte's worshippers gain the Despondent debuff, and a Memorial Crystal will appear on a future floor. Paz's suicide attack—using an arrow Katia gave him—was concentrated on Ysalte's neck, decapitating her. Carl realizes that like other totems before, Paz was able to kill his own goddess. During the chaos, Carl ends up trapped inside Amayon's hand as the demon punches himself repeatedly due to Donut's headset-enhanced voice command triggering the "Why are you Hitting Yourself?" spell. His party communicates via chat: Donut searches for Carl, Elle spots his legs dangling above Sheol fire, Imani and Tran are trapped in debris in the FOSCA building, and Louis celebrates gaining a Celestial box. Donut negotiates with Amayon, demanding he release Carl and Samantha in exchange for Donut turning off the punching spell. Amayon agrees. The demon reveals he was witness to a deal involving Emberus's son Geyrun, and offers to share information about the son's fate if Amayon helps kill his three brothers. When the punching spell expires, Amayon dumps Carl and Samantha toward the Sheol fire below, stating they are now even and he owes Carl nothing.
