The Bondsmith Melishi betrays them by trapping Mishram in a gemstone prison on Honor's command, causing all singers to undergo a traumatic transformation that strips them of their intelligence and power, triggering the Recreance. The vision reveals the Stormfather's deception and ends with Odium claiming dominion over Dalinar in the Spiritual Realm.

Dalinar enters a vision where he inhabits Garith, an ancient Windrunner, and observes a clandestine peace negotiation with a singer Radiant and Ba-Ado-Mishram herself. The singer and Mishram demonstrate genuine affection and desire for reconciliation, but Melishi, the Bondsmith, approaches with a large gemstone. Despite Dalinar sensing the impending assassination, Honor's voice commands Melishi to proceed. Melishi forms a Connection with Mishram and uses the gemstone to trap her, causing all singers across Roshar to collapse and undergo a horrific transformation, losing their intelligence and physical stature. Honor reveals that Radiants are capable of destroying the world, justifying the necessity of Mishram's imprisonment. Garith and the others react with fury at this broken oath. The being claiming to be Honor is revealed to be the Stormfather, who admits he has been hiding Dalinar from Odium but can no longer do so.
