Chapter 95
Chapter 103
Overview
Sigzil leads Windrunners in a desperate aerial battle at Narak Prime while executing a feint to draw the enemy toward Narak Three. When Leyten discovers Moash on the battlefield, Sigzil rushes to intercept him, only to find himself caught in a fabrial that negates Radiant powers. Moash, now transformed with crystalline eyes and a Voidlight bond, kills Leyten despite Sigzil's intervention. Meanwhile, Adolin and a small team attempt to stop a thunderclast approaching Azimir's dome, and Commandant Zarb faces a new incursion of Deepest Ones in the city.
Summary
The chapter alternates between three battlefronts. At Narak Prime, Sigzil executes a coordinated air campaign with thirty Windrunners against Skybreakers, using lightweaving and tactical deception to lure the enemy toward the lightly-defended Narak Three. His plan appears to be working as the entire enemy force pivots toward the target. However, Leyten sends an urgent message that he has located Moash. Sigzil immediately pursues him northward. Upon arrival, Sigzil discovers Moash has been transformed: his eyes replaced entirely by crystalline diamonds glowing with Voidlight that seem to have grown through his skull, and he wields an Honorblade alongside a knife that warps light. Moash has also activated a fabrial that cancels Radiant powers in a localized field. Within this bubble, Sigzil is helpless as Moash kills Leyten, who dies after speaking a Death Rattle prophesying Sigzil's and Vienta's deaths at the hands of someone called "Vyre." Moash escapes before reinforcements arrive, leaving Sigzil devastated. In Azimir, Adolin prepares to engage a thirty-foot thunderclast with Gallant, forty soldiers, and the Azish Shardbearer Neziham using chains, ropes, and oil to trip and disable the creature. Commandant Zarb, left in charge of the dome's defense with limited forces, must defend against Deepest Ones emerging from the stone as the main enemy offensive intensifies against the dome itself.
