AFTERWORD

Chapter 63

Day Six

Overview

Moash awakens in Kholinar, tormented by guilt over killing Teft. Odium appears to him in a new form, refusing to take away his pain but offering him a vision of a unified world where wrongs are righted. After Moash agrees to serve again, he is subjected to a brutal procedure involving spikes of light driven through his skull, which grants him the ability to see spren and Investiture.

Summary

Moash regains consciousness in Kholinar after being recovered from Urithiru, blinded and consumed by guilt over Teft's death. He begs Odium to take away his emotional pain as promised, but Odium—now in a new form following his predecessor's demise—refuses, claiming that emotion is essential to his followers. Odium justifies Teft's killing as a necessary sacrifice and reframes Moash as a hero bearing the cost of doing what is right. He shows Moash a vision of a unified world under an eternal army, with wrongs righted and the common people finally gaining justice—the cause Moash originally fought for. Moash accepts the vision and agrees to serve again, despite knowing it may pit him against his friends. Odium then hands him over to others who subject him to an excruciating procedure: mallets drive spikes of light through his skull. Though the pain is unbearable, Moash experiences it as defiance against guilt, reinterpreting his suffering as a badge for a greater cause. After the procedure completes, Moash discovers he can now see spren and Investiture as outlines and rhythms of light, making him a weapon specifically designed to perceive and interact with supernatural forces. Odium confirms he is ready to serve and forge a better world.
