Interlude 4

Interlude 4 shifts perspective to Shallan infiltrating a Ghostbloods meeting disguised as one of their members. She encounters Iyatil and learns that Mraize and Iyatil are themselves Radiants bonded to Sja-anat's children, planning to enter Shadesmar through Dalinar's perpendicularity to find the Unmade Mishram. Her cover is blown when Iyatil grows suspicious of her behavior.

Shallan attends a Ghostbloods gathering where Mraize displays a hand ballista to the group. When Iyatil addresses her in an unfamiliar language, Shallan panics but manages to deflect by feigning distraction with a doorknob's reflection, mentioning Sja-anat to create a false lead. The Unmade appears and confirms Shallan's identity, discussing her own survival against Odium while her children watch the Bondsmiths. Iyatil leads Shallan and Mraize to a separate room containing her trophy case and a mirror, where she communes with Sja-anat. Shallan is shocked to discover that both Mraize and Iyatil are Radiants bonded to Sja-anat's children—they plan to enter Shadesmar and use Dalinar's perpendicularity to access the Spiritual Realm in search of Mishram, another Unmade. Sja-anat reveals Shallan is hunting them but does not expose her position. Shallan notices Mraize carries anti-Light stolen from Urithiru. Iyatil dismisses Mraize, then confides in Shallan about concerns regarding his loyalty and their ultimate goal of controlling the Shards. When Iyatil questions Shallan's subdued responses and begins to suspect something is wrong, Shallan's nervous reaction causes shockspren to appear. Iyatil lunges and tears away Shallan's hood and wig, revealing her identity and exposing the infiltration.
